Sire Twisted Freedom stands at North Wind Estates in Equine Revolution as a retired Steeplechase horse decending from Distorted Humor. Distorted Humor is a thicker chestnut Thoroughbred who is a multiple graded stakes winner, including races such as the Salvator Mile Handicap, Commonwealth Breeders' Cup Stakes, Churchill Downs Handicap, and Ack Ack Handicap. Forty Niner descends from Raise a Native and Mr. Prospector, but won 11 of 19 starts including several GI Stakes. He won teh Champagne, Travers, Fountain of Youth, as well as others, and was the 1987 Eclipse Champion Two Year Old Male. He currently stnads in Japan with over $2.7mil USD in earnings. Distorted Humor's dam, Danzig's Beauty won three races including a GII and GI (Gardenia & Acorn Stakes) and died from colic in 2006. Her dam. Sweetest Chant was an amazing flat and jump runner with 40 starts and wins including the Arlignton Oaks, Arlington Matron, Orchid Handicap, and others. Within her pedigree, Irish stud Turn-To comes about where he won 6 races, placed once, and showe once, with 8 total starts.
Twisted Freedom's dam, Set Them Free was a stake's winner and phenominal broodmare, foaling many winners. Her sire, Stop the Music, by Hail to Reason, was a GSW who died at 35 years of age, while her dam, Valseuse was a french mare who came to stand brood in the US. Sired by Tyrant, he ran 39 starts winning or placing 22 of them 15 being stakes races. Hail to Reason is an impeccible stallion who won races such as the Hopeful Stakes, Tremont Stakes, Youthful Stakes, and others and was the Eclipse Champion 2-year-old of 1960, and the Leading North American Sire in 1970. His other offspring include Halo (champion sire), Proud Clarion (Kentucky Derby winner), Personality (preakness Stakes winner), and Hail to All (Belmont Stakes Winner). Sired by Tom Fool, Bebopper (Stop the Music's Dam) also foaled Hatchet Man and Flag Waver, both of which were mutliple stakes winners. Tom Fool was Champion 2-year-old-colt of 1951, and was both Horse of the Year and Champion Handicap Horse of 1953. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1960 after winning 21 of 30 starts.
From a dam's perspective, Flying West is a ER mare homed at The Matuchie Estate with three foals in addition to this foal currently in ER. She personally holds the Champion ER title and was imported to ER in April. She has been with TME since January, 09, and is currently in foal for 2010. Grandsire Walkslikeaduck was sent to South Korea in RL in 2001, after winning four of 10 starts in the US, three being stakes wins. Pedigree decends to 1954 Red God who won 5 of 14 starts and was retired to Irelan. He was the Champion Sire of 2yo's in Ireland in 1969 after foaling many greats. Champion horse Theatrical (IRE) also appears in Flying West's sire's pedigree. Theatrical was both the Champion Older Horse in Ireland as well as the Champion Turf Male in the USA and won 10 of 22 starts, though he placed 2nd and rd 6 more times and won over $2mil USD in earnings.
Grandsire Gone West decends straight from Mr. Prospector but with much more avengance. He was named Superior Sire of Sires, and on May 8, 2009, it was announced he will retire from stud (he was born in 1984) at the end of this breeding season. He won the GI Dwyer Stakes, GII Gotham Stakes, and GII Withers Stakes, placed in the Wood Memorial, and placed third in the Fountain of Youth. Somethingroyal was not the top of racers, but was an amazing broodmare sire before her death at 31 years old. She was 1973 Broodmare of the Year, and foaled Secretariat (1973 TC Winner), Sir Gaylord, First Family, Syrian Sea, and was the oldest mare to foal a TC Winner, at age 18.
Esponage descends back to Leamington and Sovereign. Leamington led the US General sire list 3 times, and died in 1878.
